Uganda’s Ministry of ICT and
National Guidance has received 100 computers from dfcu Group and dfcu
Foundation as part of efforts to expand digital access and strengthen
technology skills among learners in underserved communities.
The initiative builds on a
Memorandum of Understanding signed between the ministry and dfcu Group last
year, aimed at promoting digital inclusion and supporting communities through
technology-driven interventions.
The donated computers will
be distributed to selected schools to provide students with greater access to
digital tools and practical skills needed to participate in the digital
economy.
The Ministry of ICT and
National Guidance said the partnership contributes to bridging the digital
divide by improving access to technology and creating opportunities for young
learners to develop essential digital competencies.
Beyond supporting education,
the collaboration also includes community development initiatives under
Uganda’s Parish Development Model (PDM), with dfcu providing financial
management training for Parish Chiefs and local Savings and Credit Cooperative
Organisations (SACCOs).
The ministry said
partnerships between government and private sector organisations remain
critical to expanding digital inclusion, strengthening human capital
development and supporting Uganda’s broader digital transformation agenda.
