The Ethiopian Tourist
Trading Enterprise (ETTE) and Ethiopost have signed a strategic Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) aimed at expanding digital commerce, improving product
accessibility, and creating new retail opportunities across Ethiopia.
The partnership will enable
ETTE to sell its products through the Ethiopost e-commerce platform, allowing
customers across the country to access a wider range of products online. The
agreement will also facilitate the establishment of an ETTE Art & Crafts
Shop within the Ethiopost compound through a dedicated retail space.
Under the agreement,
Ethiopost employees will also have access to ETTE duty-paid products through
flexible credit purchase arrangements covering six months and one year.
Speaking at the signing
ceremony, ETTE Deputy Chief Executive Officer Ato Tewodros Tegegne said the
partnership represents the first collaboration of its kind under the
enterprise’s new strategic direction, which focuses on working with established
digital commerce platforms to expand its market reach.
He noted that while ETTE is
developing plans to launch its own digital platform, the enterprise will
continue to pursue strategic partnerships with existing e-commerce providers
such as Ethiopost to strengthen its distribution channels and customer engagement.
Ethiopost Chief Executive
Officer Ato Dagmawi Haileye welcomed the partnership, highlighting its
alignment with the company’s three-year strategic plan, which places
significant focus on expanding e-commerce services and leveraging digital
platforms to deliver greater value to customers.
The collaboration between
the two institutions is expected to support Ethiopia’s growing digital economy
by combining ETTE’s product portfolio with Ethiopost’s nationwide logistics and
e-commerce capabilities.
