The Zambia Civil Aviation
Authority (ZCAA) has held discussions with a delegation of Chinese investors to
explore potential investment opportunities in aviation infrastructure, emerging
technologies and skills development.
The delegation, led by Mr.
Jian Zhu (Guet), met with ZCAA Acting Director General Mr. Bwalya Mulenga during
a courtesy visit focused on identifying areas for collaboration in Zambia's
aviation sector.
During the meeting, the
Chinese delegation outlined preliminary proposals to support the redevelopment
of Kabwe, including the possible construction of an airport aimed at promoting
regional economic growth and reducing congestion in major urban centres.
The investors also expressed
interest in developing aviation manufacturing and aircraft assembly facilities,
expanding aviation training programmes, and supporting initiatives in drone
operations and advanced air mobility technologies.
The Civil Aviation Authority
advised the delegation to submit detailed concept notes for the proposed
projects and reaffirmed its commitment to providing regulatory guidance to
ensure that all investments comply with Zambia's civil aviation legislation and
international aviation standards.
Both parties agreed to
continue discussions through the exchange of technical information and
follow-up virtual meetings as they explore opportunities to advance aviation
investment and infrastructure development in Zambia.
