The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has celebrated the winners and champions of the WSIS Prizes 2026, recognising outstanding initiatives that demonstrate the power of technology and human creativity in advancing inclusive digital development.

ITU Secretary-General Doreen Bogdan-Martin congratulated this year’s winners, highlighting the role of the WSIS Prizes in showcasing innovative solutions that use digital technologies to improve lives and address global challenges.

The WSIS Prizes have become a global platform for recognising projects and initiatives that contribute to the implementation of the WSIS Action Lines, promoting digital inclusion, innovation and sustainable development through technology.

This year’s recognition reflects the continued importance of people-centred digital transformation, with winning initiatives demonstrating how technology can be harnessed to expand opportunities, strengthen communities and support social and economic progress.

Bogdan-Martin said the achievements of the winners and champions embody the spirit of WSIS by placing people at the heart of digital development and highlighting the potential of innovation to create meaningful impact across societies.

The WSIS Prizes remain a key feature of the annual WSIS Forum, bringing together governments, private sector leaders, civil society, academia and technology stakeholders to celebrate progress and encourage collaboration towards a more inclusive digital future.
