The National Communications
Authority (NCA) and iRise Hub have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
aimed at advancing Somalia’s digital innovation ecosystem and supporting the
country’s broader digital transformation agenda.
The agreement establishes a
strategic framework for collaboration between the two institutions, focusing on
the promotion of innovation, entrepreneurship, digital skills development,
cybersecurity, research and public engagement within Somalia’s technology
sector.
Under the terms of the MoU,
both parties will work to strengthen capacity building initiatives and
encourage the development of locally driven digital solutions. The partnership
also seeks to support startups, innovators and young technology professionals
by creating opportunities for growth within the digital economy.
Officials said the
collaboration is intended to foster an enabling environment for innovation and
contribute to the development of a secure, inclusive and resilient digital
ecosystem in Somalia.
The initiative is expected
to enhance cooperation between regulatory and innovation-focused institutions,
while supporting efforts to position Somalia as an emerging participant in the
regional and global digital economy.
The partnership between NCA
and iRise Hub forms part of ongoing efforts to accelerate digital
transformation and strengthen technological capacity across the country.
