Zamtel
has provided 12 months of internet connectivity support to the Zambia Library,
Cultural and Skills Centre for the Visually Impaired as part of efforts to
promote digital inclusion and bridge the digital divide.
The
initiative was marked by a formal handover ceremony, highlighting the
telecommunications company’s commitment to expanding access to digital
resources for persons with disabilities.
The
Centre plays a key role in empowering both visually impaired and sighted
learners through services such as braille instruction, access to learning
materials, mobility training, and ICT skills development.
According
to Zamtel, the support is intended to enhance the Centre’s ability to deliver
digital learning opportunities and improve access to information and skills
training for its beneficiaries.
The
company noted that digital connectivity should serve as a tool for inclusion,
enabling individuals to access opportunities and participate fully in the
digital economy regardless of their circumstances.
The
initiative forms part of broader efforts to ensure that no one is left behind
in the ongoing digital transformation process.
