The Internet Society Rwanda
Chapter has launched an Online Trust and Safety Training programme aimed at
strengthening digital resilience among women entrepreneurs and refugees in
Rwanda.
The training, which
commenced at the University of Lay Adventists of Kigali (UNILAK), is designed
to equip participants with practical skills to protect their devices, secure
online accounts, identify digital threats, and promote responsible internet usage.
The initiative targets 500
women entrepreneurs and refugees, with a focus on enhancing safe and meaningful
participation in the digital economy. Organisers say the programme is intended
to address growing concerns around cybersecurity risks while expanding digital
literacy among vulnerable groups.
Through the training,
participants are expected to gain hands-on knowledge in online safety
practices, including account protection, threat detection, and secure digital
behaviour, enabling them to operate more confidently in increasingly digital
business environments.
The Internet Society Rwanda
Chapter noted that the programme forms part of broader efforts to promote an
open, secure, and trustworthy internet ecosystem that supports inclusive
digital development across the country.
