Kenya’s
Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Information, Communications and the
Digital Economy, H.E. William Kabogo, has underscored the importance of
integrating digital accessibility into all stages of policy development,
infrastructure deployment, product design and service delivery.
He
made the remarks while officially opening the inAble Inclusive Africa
Conference 2026, a platform dedicated to advancing digital accessibility and
inclusion across the continent.

Kabogo
said Kenya’s ongoing digital transformation agenda is anchored on ensuring that
no citizen is left behind, particularly persons with disabilities and other
vulnerable groups who require barrier-free access to digital services.
He
highlighted progress made under the Digital Superhighway Programme, which is
expanding connectivity to schools, hospitals, government institutions and
communities across the country.
According
to him, investments in digital infrastructure, innovation hubs and the
expansion of e-government services are creating opportunities for citizens to
participate more actively in the digital economy.

The
Cabinet Secretary also commended collaboration between government agencies,
standards bodies and accessibility advocates in developing Kenya’s national
standard for the accessibility of ICT products and services, describing it as a
significant step toward aligning with international best practices.
He
emphasized that accessibility remains a central pillar of Kenya’s digital
development strategy, particularly in ensuring that learners and citizens with
disabilities can access education, information and public services without
barriers.
The
conference brings together stakeholders from government, industry and civil
society to advance inclusive digital solutions and strengthen accessibility
frameworks across Africa.
