The
American Chamber of Commerce Kenya, in partnership with Meta and Open Loop, has
convened the Open Loop Sprint Kenya, a working session focused on co-designing
innovation-enabling pathways for artificial intelligence (AI) development and
governance in Kenya.
The
forum brought together policymakers, regulators, industry leaders, academics
and technology experts to examine the country’s evolving AI landscape and
explore policy approaches aimed at supporting responsible innovation.

Discussions
focused on emerging regulatory considerations and practical strategies to
foster an enabling environment for AI development while ensuring effective
governance and oversight.
A
key highlight of the event was a panel discussion on the future of AI policy in
Kenya, which examined governance frameworks, regulatory models and the role of
cross-sector collaboration in shaping the country’s digital future.
The
session was moderated by Ololade Shyllon, Director of Privacy and Data Policy
for Africa, the Middle East and Turkey at Meta, who guided discussions on the
opportunities and challenges associated with AI adoption.
Panelists
included representatives from the private sector, regulatory bodies and the
technology ecosystem, who shared insights on innovation, data governance and
the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration.

Participants
emphasized the need for coordinated efforts between government and industry to
build robust policy frameworks that support innovation while safeguarding users
and promoting responsible AI deployment.
Organizers
