Benin’s
former Minister of Digital Economy and Communications, Aurelie I. Adam Soule has
been reassigned to serve as Minister in charge of Communication and Media under
President Romuald Wadagni’s new seven-year government term.
Soule
who recently participated in the inaugural Council of Ministers meeting held on
Thursday, May 28, 2026, expressed gratitude to President Romuald Wadagni for
the renewed confidence placed in her leadership, noting that her reassignment
reflects continued trust in her experience and commitment to public service.
She
said her focus in the new portfolio will be to strengthen a responsible,
credible and modern media landscape that supports national development
objectives and serves the public interest.
Soule
emphasized the importance of fostering media institutions that are aligned with
contemporary realities and capable of contributing to social cohesion,
transparency and citizen engagement.
She
also reaffirmed her commitment to working closely with media professionals,
ministry staff and sector stakeholders to address existing challenges and
advance reforms within the communication and media space.
The
Minister underscored that despite the challenges facing the sector, there
remains strong determination within government and among stakeholders to build
a resilient and effective media environment that supports Benin’s broader
development agenda.
