Orange Foundation and government break ground for Orange Village at Felei-Tech City

The
Orange Foundation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Communication,
Technology and Innovation, has officially broken ground for the construction of
the Orange Village at Felei-Tech City in Tikonko Village, Bo District, marking
a major step in efforts to expand access to essential social infrastructure in
Sierra Leone.
The
sod-cutting ceremony was held in the presence of the Minister of Communication,
Technology and Innovation, Madame Salima Bah, alongside the Chief Executive
Officer of Orange Sierra Leone, Madame Aicha Touré, the Chief Executive Officer
of Felei-Tech City, Mr David Manley, and the Director of the Orange Foundation,
Annie Wonnie-Katta. The event also brought together other government officials
and traditional leaders.
The
initiative is expected to deliver key social infrastructure to the community,
including a school and a hospital, aimed at improving access to education and
healthcare while also supporting long-term community development through
technology and innovation.
According
to stakeholders, the Orange Village project represents a strategic investment
in human capital development and community empowerment, with the potential to
benefit current and future generations in the Bo District and surrounding
areas.
As
part of its broader social impact agenda, the Orange Foundation also donated
educational materials to pupils in nearby schools during the ceremony. The
donation is intended to support learning outcomes by equipping students with
essential resources to aid their academic development.
Officials
described the project as a demonstration of commitment to building sustainable
communities, emphasizing that the initiative goes beyond physical
infrastructure to foster opportunity, innovation and hope for the future.
