Orange
Foundation and UBA Foundation have officially handed over a newly refurbished
maternity ward at the York Community Health Center in Sierra Leone as part of
efforts to improve maternal healthcare services in the country.
The
handover ceremony was attended by senior government and corporate officials,
including the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Andrew Sorie, the
Chief Executive Officer of Orange Sierra Leone, Aicha Touré, the Chief
Executive Officer of UBA Bank Sierra Leone, Mohamed Alhajie Samoura, and the
Director of Orange Foundation, Annie Wonnie-Katta.

The
refurbishment was carried out under the Safeguarding Maternal Health project,
which aims to improve healthcare delivery and provide safer and more dignified
conditions for mothers and newborns within local communities.
Orange
Sierra Leone said the initiative reflects a collaborative commitment to
strengthening maternal and child healthcare infrastructure through partnerships
that deliver social impact.
Officials
at the event emphasized the importance of investing in healthcare facilities
that support women and children, noting that improved maternal health services
contribute to stronger and healthier communities.

The
renovated maternity ward is expected to enhance healthcare conditions at the
York Community Health Center and support ongoing efforts to improve access to
quality maternal care across Sierra Leone.
