Benin’s
outgoing Minister of Digital and Digitalisation, Aurelie I. Adam Soule has
formally handed over responsibilities to her successor, marking the end of her
tenure and reflecting on progress made in advancing the country’s digital
transformation agenda.
Aurelie
I. Adam Soule announced the transition during an official handover ceremony at
the Ministry of Digital and Digitalisation, expressing gratitude for the
opportunity to serve under the leadership of President Patrice Talon and
acknowledging continued confidence from national leadership during her term.
She
noted that digital technology had been positioned as a key driver of economic
growth and social inclusion in Benin, rather than a standalone sector. During
her tenure, she highlighted progress made in strengthening digital
infrastructure, expanding the digitalisation of public services, and building
capacity among young people in digital and artificial intelligence-related
skills.
The
outgoing minister credited ministry teams, implementing agencies, ecosystem
partners and citizens for contributing to the achievements recorded during her
mandate, describing the progress as the result of coordinated national effort.
She
formally passed responsibility to Mahuna Akplogan, who will now lead the
country’s digital portfolio, including oversight of the national artificial
intelligence strategy.
The
transition comes as Benin continues to advance its digital transformation
agenda, with emphasis on strengthening innovation ecosystems, expanding access
to digital services, and positioning technology as a central pillar of national
development policy.
