The
Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) has hosted an
induction training programme for scholars under the Kofi Annan Global Health
Leadership Programme, delivered through the AVoHC platform in Addis Ababa,
Ethiopia.
The
training focused on strengthening participants’ leadership capacity and
professional competencies, while also addressing cultural awareness, mental
well-being, and community engagement as key components of effective public
health practice.

Participants
were also introduced to the mandate of the Africa CDC and its role in
supporting African Union Member States to strengthen public health systems,
enhance preparedness, and improve coordinated responses to health emergencies
across the continent.
Africa
Centres for Disease Control and Prevention emphasised that the programme is
designed to support targeted deployments of trained health professionals to
Member States, contributing to the advancement of Africa’s health security
agenda.

The
induction forms part of broader continental efforts to build a skilled and
responsive public health workforce capable of addressing evolving health
challenges and strengthening resilience across national health systems.
