The
Director General of RASCOM, Timothy Ashong, has participated in a high-level
panel discussion at the ongoing Regional Development Forum for Africa (RDF-AFR)
in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.
Mr.
Ashong joined ministers, regulators, industry leaders and global digital
stakeholders in a session themed “Infrastructure Development for Universal
Meaningful Connectivity.” The discussion focused on strategic approaches to
accelerating investment in digital infrastructure across Africa.

Key
areas of deliberation included innovative financing models, enabling policy and
regulatory frameworks, and collaborative approaches aimed at expanding access
to reliable digital connectivity across the continent. The session also
underscored the role of digital infrastructure in advancing the Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs) and the African Union’s Agenda 2063.

RASCOM,
through its participation, reiterated its commitment to working with regional
and global partners to strengthen Africa’s satellite and communications
infrastructure. The organisation also reaffirmed its dedication to supporting
inclusive, resilient and sustainable digital transformation across Africa.
