More than 140 young people in Kenya’s Lamu County have graduated from the Huawei DigiTruck Programme after completing five weeks of digital skills training in Mokowe and Mpeketoni.

The initiative is designed to promote digital inclusion and equip young people with practical ICT skills to enhance employability and participation in Kenya’s growing digital economy.

Among the graduates were participants whose personal stories highlighted the programme’s impact. Rose Waithera, who gave birth during the training period, returned to complete the course and successfully graduated. Another participant, Simon Murimi, a student living with disabilities, attended all sessions and earned certification.

The programme aims to expand access to digital literacy and ensure broader inclusion of underserved groups in technology-driven opportunities.

Huawei stated that the success stories from the cohort demonstrate the role of digital training in empowering communities, creating opportunities, and supporting Kenya’s broader digital transformation agenda.
