Kenya
and Nigeria have pledged to strengthen collaboration in the information and
communications technology sector following high-level discussions between the
two countries’ digital economy ministers during the ongoing Africa Forward
Summit in Nairobi.
Kenya’s
Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications and the Digital Economy,
William Kabogo Gitau, hosted Nigeria’s Minister of Communications, Innovation
and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, for a courtesy visit aimed at deepening
bilateral cooperation in digital transformation and innovation.

The
discussions focused on opportunities for collaboration in ICT development,
innovation, digital transformation, knowledge exchange, and regional
cooperation to support Africa’s technological advancement and economic
integration.
During
the meeting, Tijani commended Kenya’s progress in technology and digital
infrastructure development, particularly the country’s ongoing
100,000-kilometre national fibre connectivity programme.
Kabogo
reiterated calls for Africa’s development agenda to be driven by African
talent, innovation, and resources, echoing remarks made by Kenyan President
William Ruto during the opening of the summit.

The
engagement forms part of broader discussions taking place at the Africa Forward
Summit 2026, which has brought together leaders, policymakers, investors, and
technology stakeholders to discuss Africa’s digital and economic future.
