The
ICT Association of Zambia (ICTAZ) has strengthened its collaboration with
Huawei Technologies Zambia through discussions aimed at enhancing ICT skills
development and professional certification opportunities for its members.
ICTAZ
Chief Executive Officer Chellah Silavwe recently met with Huawei Technologies
Zambia Managing Director Dylan Lyu, where both parties reached agreement on key
terms toward a forthcoming Memorandum of Understanding.
The
proposed partnership is expected to provide ICTAZ members with access to
Huawei’s global training programmes and internationally recognised
certifications, supported by training materials and structured learning
pathways. These certifications will also be integrated into ICTAZ Continuous
Professional Development (CPD) programmes in line with its professional
development policy.
Under
the arrangement, members will be able to pursue Huawei certification tracks
including Huawei Certified ICT Associate, Huawei Certified ICT Professional,
and Huawei Certified ICT Expert. The training will cover key technology areas
such as artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, big data, cloud computing,
storage, cybersecurity, and 5G technologies.
Beyond
certification programmes, the two organisations also explored collaboration in
initiatives such as the Huawei ICT Competition, ICTAZ Young Innovators Day, and
the upcoming TICON Conference, aimed at promoting innovation and skills
development among ICT professionals.
ICTAZ
noted that the partnership aligns with its broader mandate to promote
professionalism and capacity building within Zambia’s ICT sector, while
strengthening access to globally competitive skills.
Huawei
Technologies Zambia highlighted its continued commitment to local talent
development, noting that a significant proportion of its workforce is locally
recruited.
