Visa
Inc. has entered into a strategic agreement with Ethiopian Airlines to expand
co-branded card offerings, as both organisations seek to enhance payment
experiences for travelers across Africa.
The
partnership aims to deliver seamless, secure, and convenient payment solutions
aligned with the growing demand for digital financial services in the aviation
sector. With travel activity increasing across the continent, the collaboration
is expected to support more efficient cross-border transactions and improve
customer journeys.

Officials
from both organisations indicated that the initiative leverages Ethiopian
Airlines’ extensive network and market leadership in African aviation,
alongside Visa’s global digital payments infrastructure. The co-branded card
programme is designed to provide customers with integrated payment options that
function reliably across multiple markets.
The
agreement reflects broader industry trends toward embedding financial services
within travel ecosystems, enabling passengers to access more flexible and
secure payment solutions throughout their journeys.

The
partnership also underscores ongoing efforts to strengthen digital payment
adoption across Africa, supporting financial inclusion and facilitating
smoother transactions in an increasingly interconnected travel environment.
