MTN
Group and MTN South Sudan have held a full-day strategic workshop aimed at
strengthening business resilience, testing assumptions, and developing
actionable strategies to guide future growth in the South Sudan market.
The
session brought together MTN South Sudan’s executive leadership, Group Strategy
and Transformation teams, as well as senior and mid-level managers, with a
focus on translating the group’s Ambition 2030 framework into locally
executable strategies that support market leadership and drive digital and
financial inclusion.

The
workshop opened with remarks from MTN South Sudan CEO Mapula Bodibe, who
emphasized the importance of inclusive strategy development and leadership
engagement in shaping the company’s future direction.
Participants
explored potential market disruptions under a hypothetical “NewCo” scenario,
assessing competitive risks such as ultra-low-cost digital offerings,
digital-first operating models, and expanded financial services targeting
underserved communities.
Based
on these insights, teams developed localized strategic responses including
improved value propositions for affordability and access, accelerated adoption
of mobile financial services through ecosystem partnerships, enhanced network
quality in high-demand areas, and improved operational efficiency to sustain
competitiveness.

The
workshop concluded with “Horizon Defense” presentations that aligned strategic
priorities for South Sudan with MTN Group’s broader Ambition 2030 agenda, while
identifying key operational and strategic shifts required for implementation.
The
session was described as a key milestone in strengthening alignment between
group strategy and local execution, positioning MTN South Sudan to better serve
customers and support inclusive digital and financial growth in the country.
