MTN MoMo Uganda has engaged with Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL)
to explore ways of improving the efficiency and reliability of electricity
payments for consumers.
The meeting, led by MTN MoMo Uganda Acting Managing
Director Sarah Bateta Okwi and UEDCL
Managing Director Paul Mwesigwa, focused
on enhancing service delivery through better integration of digital payment
systems and electricity distribution services.

Discussions centred on simplifying the process of
purchasing electricity and ensuring seamless payment experiences for users,
particularly in time-sensitive situations where service reliability is
critical.
Both parties acknowledged the
interdependence between access to electricity and efficient payment systems,
noting that disruptions in either can directly impact consumers. The
collaboration is expected to address these challenges by improving transaction
speed, accessibility and system reliability.

Officials said the engagement
reflects a shared commitment to leveraging digital financial solutions to
enhance everyday services, with a focus on practical improvements that benefit
users.
The
initiative forms part of broader efforts to strengthen service delivery through
partnerships between utility providers and digital financial service operators.
