The
Kenya Airports Authority (KAA), in collaboration with aviation stakeholders,
has commemorated the World Day for Safety and Health at Work at Jomo Kenyatta
International Airport (JKIA), reinforcing the importance of safety as a core
pillar of aviation operations.
The
event brought together key industry players including Kenya Airways, NAS
Servair, Jambojet, Port Health Services under the Ministry of Health and the
Directorate of Occupational Safety and Health Services. Participants emphasised
the need for a coordinated approach to maintaining high safety standards across
the aviation ecosystem.

The
commemoration marked the conclusion of a week-long series of activities
conducted across KAA-managed airports, including safety awareness campaigns,
stakeholder engagements and Foreign Object Debris management exercises aimed at
strengthening a culture of shared responsibility.
Activities
began at KAA headquarters with a safety awareness march to JKIA, led by KAA
Managing Director and CEO Moses Wekesa. Speaking at the event, he underscored
the need to embed safety into daily operations, noting that sustained
commitment from all stakeholders is essential to building a strong safety
culture.
The
event was attended by representatives from across the aviation sector,
including George Kamal, François Pujo, Naayil Bura and Lucy Nzilani, among
others.

KAA
officials said the event provided a platform for reflection, knowledge sharing
and renewed commitment to enhancing occupational health and safety standards.
The authority reaffirmed its dedication to working with partners to maintain a
safe, secure and efficient airport environment in line with international best
practices.
