The
Ethiopian Space Science Society has inaugurated a Youth Wing aimed at
empowering young professionals and strengthening the country’s scientific
ecosystem.
The
launch, held in Addis Ababa marks a strategic effort to engage the next
generation in science, technology and innovation, with a focus on building
skills and expanding opportunities in emerging fields.
Alongside
the inauguration, the society signed a collaboration agreement with iTena
Digital Medicine to advance research and development in space medicine. The
partnership is expected to open new pathways for innovation at the intersection
of healthcare and space science.

Officials
described the initiative as a significant step toward positioning Ethiopia
within the evolving global space and scientific landscape, while creating
opportunities for young professionals to contribute to cutting-edge research.
The
collaboration is also expected to support the development of specialised
expertise in space medicine, an emerging discipline with potential applications
in both terrestrial healthcare and future space exploration.
The
Ethiopian Space Science Society said the initiative reflects its commitment to
fostering innovation, building capacity and expanding participation in science
and technology among the country’s youth.
