The
23rd Annual General Meeting of the Conference of Telecommunications Regulators
of West Africa (WATRA) has been held in Lomé, Togo, bringing together
regulatory authorities from across the region to deliberate on key strategic
issues shaping the telecommunications and digital sector.
The
meeting, held on 22 and 23 April 2026, provided a platform for member states to
review sector developments, assess the activities of the WATRA Executive
Secretariat and define policy priorities for the coming years. Discussions
focused on strengthening regulatory coordination and addressing emerging
challenges in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Autorité
de Régulation des Postes et Télécommunications participated in the session
through a delegation led by Deputy Director General Adama Condé. He was
accompanied by senior officials including Mohamed Keita, Ansoumane Camara,
Abdoulaye Kouyaté and Diallo Fatoumata Binta.
WATRA
serves as a key consultative framework for telecommunications regulators in
West Africa, supporting harmonisation of policies and fostering collaboration
among member countries to promote sector growth and digital integration.
Participants
at the meeting emphasized the importance of coordinated regulatory approaches
in addressing cross-border connectivity challenges, enhancing innovation and
ensuring inclusive access to digital services across the region.

The
conference concluded with a renewed commitment by member states to strengthen
cooperation and advance shared regulatory objectives aimed at supporting the
development of a resilient and competitive digital economy in West Africa.
