Kenya’s
President William Ruto has outlined a
forward-looking vision for the country’s development during a public lecture
held at the LUISS School of Government in
Rome.
The lecture, organised in collaboration with the Med-Or Italian Foundation and supported by
Italy’s Ambassador to Kenya Vincenzo Del Monaco,
brought together policymakers, academics, and stakeholders to discuss Kenya’s
trajectory amid global economic and geopolitical shifts.

Held under the theme “Kenya: A Country Looking to the
Future,” the event provided a platform to examine the characteristics of a
resilient and future-ready state in the context of technological disruption,
climate challenges, and evolving global dynamics.
In his address, President Ruto
highlighted key priorities including investment in infrastructure, expansion of
economic opportunities, modernisation of public service delivery, and the
acceleration of digital transformation. He also emphasised Kenya’s ambition to
position itself as a driver of Africa’s growth and innovation.
The President placed Kenya’s
development agenda within the broader African context, pointing to the
continent’s demographic strength, industrial potential, and ongoing energy
transition as critical factors shaping its future.

The event was coordinated with the
involvement of Kenya’s Special Envoy on Technology Philip Thigo, who worked with partners to
facilitate the engagement.
The
lecture underscored strengthening ties between Kenya and Italy, while
reinforcing the importance of international dialogue in shaping policies that
support sustainable development and economic resilience.
