Senegal
has launched its first national preparatory meeting for the 2027 World
Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-27), bringing together public authorities,
regulators, operators, defense and security forces, and digital stakeholders.
The meeting, held on Tuesday, aims to develop a coherent and technically sound
national position to defend Senegal’s interests within the International
Telecommunication Union (ITU) and regional bodies.

Central
to the discussions was the management of the radio-frequency spectrum,
recognized as a strategic resource for the growth of digital technologies and
innovative services. Participants emphasized the importance of digital
sovereignty amid increasing technological and geopolitical challenges.

Through
this initiative, Senegal seeks to strengthen its influence in regional and
international negotiations, ensuring the effective, equitable, and strategic
management of frequencies critical to the country’s digital development.
