Senior officials from the African Union Commission, ECOWAS Commission, AUDA-NEPAD, African Development Bank and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa has convened in Abuja for a Steering Committee meeting of the Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa to assess progress and accelerate the implementation of strategic infrastructure projects across the continent.

The meeting focused on advancing priority initiatives under the PIDA Priority Action Plan 2 (PIDA PAP2), with participants reviewing ongoing efforts and identifying measures to fast-track project delivery.

Officials emphasized the need for stronger coordination between continental institutions and Regional Economic Communities to enhance project preparation and execution, noting that improved collaboration is essential to unlocking infrastructure development at scale.

The Committee also underscored the importance of sustaining momentum generated by the Luanda Infrastructure Finance Summit 2025, while calling for progress on the mid-term review of PIDA PAP2 to ensure alignment with broader continental development priorities.

The discussions form part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Africa’s infrastructure landscape and support the objectives of the African Union’s long-term development framework, Agenda 2063, aimed at driving economic integration and sustainable growth.
