Industry leaders have underscored the growing importance of network convergence and collaboration in shaping Africa’s digital future at a just-ended Global Africa Tech event in Algeria.

The discussion took place during the “All Networks – One Convergence” panel, which brought together key stakeholders from across the telecommunications and satellite ecosystem to examine emerging trends and opportunities on the continent.

Among the speakers was Timothy Ashong, Director General of the Regional African Satellite Communication Organization (RASCOM), alongside Aminé Tidjani of OQ Technology, Walid Mathlouthi from the International Telecommunication Union, and John Omo of the African Telecommunications Union. The session was moderated by Mohamed Amine Benziane of Algérie Télécom.

Panelists explored how advancements in technologies such as 5G, non-terrestrial networks and the Internet of Things are driving the convergence of communication networks, while also highlighting the need for stronger collaboration among stakeholders to unlock Africa’s digital potential.

Discussions also focused on innovation, regulatory alignment and strategic partnerships as critical enablers for building resilient and integrated network infrastructures across the continent.

The session formed part of broader engagements at the event, which convened policymakers, industry leaders and technology experts to advance dialogue on Africa’s evolving digital ecosystem.
