The Ethiopian Institute of Artificial Intelligence (AII) hosted a consultative forum to explore the use of artificial intelligence in enhancing farmers’ productivity and supporting the agricultural sector. The event was organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ethiopian Agricultural Transformation Institute, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Researchers and experts discussed the potential of AI to transform agriculture in Ethiopia, highlighting that if 20 million farmers adopt AI over the next decade, their combined annual income could increase by $3.5 billion.

Presentations outlined how AI technologies can deliver information to farmers in multiple local languages, detect crop and animal diseases early, and predict droughts and other environmental hazards.

The Ethiopian AI Institute emphasized its commitment to modernizing agriculture through AI solutions, aiming to improve efficiency, resilience, and income for farmers nationwide.
