The
International Telecommunication Union has officially launched a Reverse
Mentoring initiative aimed at fostering intergenerational learning and
strengthening leadership capacity within the organisation.
The
programme pairs senior leaders with younger professionals, creating a two-way
knowledge exchange designed to deepen understanding of the rapidly evolving
digital landscape. Through the initiative, senior staff are expected to gain
insights into emerging digital trends, shifting workplace dynamics, and the
perspectives of younger generations shaping the future of work.
At
the same time, participating young professionals will benefit from direct
exposure to leadership thinking, strategic decision-making processes, and
institutional experience, supporting their professional development and career
progression.
The
ITU said the initiative reflects a broader commitment to building a more
inclusive and adaptive workforce, where collaboration across generations
contributes to more informed decision-making and innovation.
Officials
noted that the programme goes beyond traditional mentoring structures by
promoting mutual learning, curiosity, and open dialogue, positioning the
organisation to better respond to the demands of an increasingly digital and
interconnected world.
