Smart
Africa Alliance has confirmed Ghana’s technical readiness to onboard the Smart
Africa Data Exchange (SADX), marking a key milestone in efforts to
operationalise a continental framework for cross-border data sharing.
The
validation exercise took place in Accra and brought together Ghana’s Ministry
of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations alongside key national
institutions including the National Information Technology Agency Ghana,
National Identification Authority Ghana, National Communications Authority
Ghana, Cyber Security Authority Ghana, Data Protection Commission Ghana, and
the Ghana Immigration Service.

Participants
assessed the country’s node architecture and confirmed its preparedness for
integration into the SADX platform, which is designed to enable secure,
sovereign, and seamless data exchange across African borders.
Stakeholders
described the SADX as a foundational component of the envisioned Single Digital
Market, aimed at enhancing interoperability, improving service delivery, and
facilitating digital trade across the continent.
Following
similar progress in Benin and Ghana, Rwanda is expected to be the next country
to complete readiness validation, after which full pilot testing of the
platform will commence.

The
development signals growing momentum toward establishing a harmonised digital
ecosystem in Africa, with coordinated infrastructure and policy frameworks to
support data-driven innovation and regional integration.
