Vodacom has convened a panel discussion to mark International Women’s Day, bringing together senior executives to reflect on the role of women in leadership and the importance of advancing digital and economic inclusion across Africa.

The discussion featured insights from Christine Ramon, Board Director at Vodafone, Murielle Puglionisi Lorilloux, Chief Officer for Commercial and Strategy at Vodacom Group, and Anna Isaac, Vodacom Group Chief Officer for Legal, Risk and Compliance.

The conversation was moderated by Mikateko Nkuna-Valoyi, Managing Executive for Talent and Culture at Vodacom South Africa, alongside Zainaaz Hansa, a Discover Graduate Trainee at the company.

Speakers highlighted the need to accelerate progress toward gender equality by strengthening women’s representation in leadership positions, removing systemic barriers, and fostering inclusive corporate cultures where women can contribute and lead effectively.

Participants also discussed the importance of expanding access to digital and economic opportunities for women across Africa, noting that inclusive growth requires deliberate efforts to ensure women benefit from technological advancements and economic development.

During the discussion, Zezethu Nontshinga, Vodacom Group Lead for Culture, Diversity and Inclusion, stressed that while achieving gender parity remains challenging, progress is driven by courage and sustained commitment to change.

The dialogue formed part of Vodacom’s activities marking International Women’s Day and underscored the company’s call for continued action to elevate women’s voices and advance a more equitable digital future across the continent.
