Experts discuss cybersecurity for real-time cross-border payments at Inclusive FinTech Forum

Leaders in financial technology and cybersecurity have gathered at the Inclusive FinTech Forum in Kigali, Rwanda, to examine strategies for securing real-time cross-border payment systems as digital financial infrastructure continues to expand globally.

The discussion, titled “Securing the Global Payments Highway: Cybersecurity for Real-Time Cross-Border Transactions,” was moderated by Zekarias Amsalu Dubale, Co-Founder and Managing Director of the Africa Fintech Summit.

Panelists included Bertrand Ndengiyingoma, Chief Technology and Innovation Officer at the National Bank of Rwanda; Ghislaine Kayigi, Chief Cybersecurity Standards Officer at the National Cyber Security Authority Rwanda; Lasbery C. Oludimu, Vice President of Global Operations and Managing Director at Yellow Card Nigeria; and Neil N., Chief Strategy Officer at XTransfer.

The panel focused on the growing importance of cybersecurity in safeguarding financial infrastructure as cross-border payment systems become faster and more interconnected across Africa and beyond.

Participants emphasized that while real-time payment technologies are transforming global finance by improving speed and accessibility, strong cybersecurity frameworks are essential to maintain trust, protect transactions and ensure the resilience of digital payment systems.

The discussion formed part of broader conversations at the forum on strengthening financial infrastructure, promoting secure digital payments and advancing inclusive fintech ecosystems across the continent.🤝
