A
regional peer-learning workshop on digital public financial management reforms
has opened in Kigali, bringing together
government officials and development partners to exchange experiences on
strengthening transparency, efficiency and accountability in public finance
systems across Africa.

The workshop was launched by Placide Mukwende, Financial Systems Development
Program Manager at the Ministry of Finance and
Economic Planning, who emphasized the importance of digitization in
improving service delivery and governance.
Speaking at the opening session, Mukwende said digital
transformation in public financial management should focus on delivering
tangible value to citizens through improved accountability, transparency and
efficiency rather than simply introducing new technologies.

Over the
two-day event, participants are expected to share lessons, innovations and
practical approaches to implementing digital public finance reforms.
Discussions will focus on how digital systems can enhance financial oversight,
improve government service delivery and support inclusive economic growth
across the continent.
