Vodacom
and Institute for the Promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises (IPEME) have
reinforced their strategic partnership to support the growth of micro, small
and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Mozambique through the Mozyweb Project.
Mozyweb
is a government-led business development initiative designed to strengthen
national entrepreneurship by providing structured support to start-ups and
MSMEs. The programme offers training in management and leadership, specialized
mentoring, business advisory services and industry knowledge-sharing to help
local enterprises grow sustainably and integrate into strategic value chains,
with a focus on promoting local content.
The
project is an initiative of the Government of Mozambique, financed by the
African Development Bank and co-implemented by Ideialab. As the public
institution responsible for promoting and strengthening MSMEs, IPEME plays a
central role in designing and implementing policies and programmes aimed at
improving the competitiveness and sustainability of Mozambique’s business
ecosystem.

Through
the Mozyweb initiative, IPEME seeks to prepare national companies to take
advantage of emerging opportunities from large-scale development projects,
including those in the Rovuma Basin and other regions of the country.
Vodacom,
a strategic partner in the project, supports the programme by contributing its
expertise, technological infrastructure and innovation capabilities to help
build the capacity of MSMEs and strengthen national entrepreneurship.
On
February 27, the headquarters of Vodacom Mozambique in Maputo hosted the
graduation ceremony for the third and final cohort of participating MSMEs from
Maputo City and Province. The event marked the completion of training in
Business Management and Leadership for 36 companies and highlighted
collaboration between the public and private sectors to promote the development
of Mozambican enterprises.
IPEME
and Vodacom congratulated the graduating companies and encouraged them to
pursue sustained growth and strategic partnerships that contribute to the
economic and social development of their communities. The organisations also
acknowledged the contributions of project partners Absa Bank, The Coca-Cola
Company and Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM) for their support in advancing
the initiative and strengthening entrepreneurship in Mozambique.
