The
Ministry of ICT in Eswatini, through the Eswatini Communications Commission
(ESCCOM), has celebrated the graduation of young participants from the Youth
Digital Skills Programme at a ceremony held at the Ezulwini Community ICT
Centre.
The programme, aimed at promoting digital literacy and
inclusion among young people, reached 1,702 registered participants. Out of
this number, 1,327 achieved certification, while 342 successfully completed the
full curriculum. More than 77 percent of enrolled participants attained
certification, reflecting strong engagement and commitment among the youth
involved.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chief
Executive Officer highlighted that the initiative represents more than the
awarding of certificates, emphasizing the importance of equipping young people
with the skills needed to thrive in the digital age. She noted that universal
access to ICT services goes beyond connectivity and must include building the
capabilities that enable individuals to take advantage of digital
opportunities.
The programme was implemented through
collaboration with several partners, including the European Union, the United
Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Eswatini National Youth Council
(SNYC), MTN Eswatini, and Wanderport, with additional support from the
leadership of the Ezulwini Umphakatsi.

Officials
noted that as the Ezulwini Community ICT Centre transitions toward full
community use, the initiative marks the beginning of a sustainable,
community-driven approach to digital empowerment aimed at helping young people
build their futures and contribute to broader socio-economic development.
