NCT South Sudan has announced that its collaboration with Bayobab has moved into the execution phase, marking the official kickoff of the National Backbone Fiber Network Project one month ago.

The initiative is described as one of the largest ICT infrastructure developments in South Sudan’s history. The project aims to connect the eastern and western corridors of the country, linking key regions through Juba and extending to other strategic cities to enhance national and regional connectivity.

As part of the rollout, NCT South Sudan is collaborating on the eastern segment of the network from Juba to Nadapal at the Kenya border. This section is expected to strengthen cross-border integration, provide backup international connectivity to Juba, and expand regional digital access.

The development forms part of the broader East-to-West Connectivity Project, designed to establish resilient, high-capacity digital infrastructure across the country. Stakeholders say the expansion will support businesses, government institutions, and communities by improving access to reliable, high-speed connectivity.

Project partners indicated that the initiative represents a significant step toward building a more digitally connected South Sudan, with further phases expected as the network continues to expand.
