GMS
has announced a strategic partnership with Shabodi to accelerate its Network
API enablement and aggregation strategy, expanding its capabilities in
standardized API exposure and enterprise monetization.
The
announcement was made at MWC26 Barcelona, where GMS outlined plans to provide
operators with a combined enablement and aggregation platform. The
collaboration is designed to support mobile network operators in exposing
standardized Network APIs and monetizing them through centralized aggregation
of enterprise demand.
Under
the partnership, GMS will offer a unified framework based on GSMA Open Gateway
principles and CAMARA-standardized APIs. The model enables operators to
securely expose network capabilities while ensuring interoperability across
markets. For enterprises, Network APIs provide authentication and fraud
prevention solutions powered by network signals such as SIM swap detection,
number verification, device status and location validation. Additional use
cases include quality-on-demand services, QoS profiles and know-your-customer
processes.
GMS
stated that its position across the Network API value chain differentiates it
from technology-only vendors and pure aggregators. The company combines network
expertise, aggregation infrastructure and enterprise relationships developed
over more than two decades. Its platform supports end-to-end orchestration,
network-agnostic deployment across 4G and 5G standalone environments, and
fallback mechanisms between Network APIs and traditional messaging channels.
The
Network API platform, powered by Shabodi, is intended to allow operators to
transition from capability exposure to CAMARA-based standardization and
monetization without requiring full core network modernization. The approach
enables operators to unlock network intelligence while preserving existing
infrastructure investments.
Charles
Upchurch, CEO of GMS, said Network APIs represent an important expansion of the
company’s portfolio, enabling operators to securely expose network data and
create new revenue streams. Ramesh Kaza, President of Shabodi, noted that the
partnership combines Shabodi’s technical expertise with GMS’s operator
relationships and aggregation capabilities to create a scalable foundation for
standardized Network API exposure.
As
part of its broader strategy, GMS has joined the GSMA Open Gateway initiative
and has received certification for four Network APIs, with additional
certifications expected. The APIs are developed in collaboration with the
CAMARA open-source community to ensure portability, consistency and secure
enterprise consumption across markets.
