Senegal’s
Ministry of Communication, Telecommunications and Digital Affairs has launched
a new initiative aimed at strengthening linguistic inclusion in institutional
communication.
The Minister of Communication, Telecommunications and Digital Affairs, Alioune
Sall, chaired the Day for the Inclusion of the Arabic Language in Institutional
Communication, underscoring the government’s commitment to making public
information more accessible and representative of the country’s linguistic
diversity.

During
the event, authorities unveiled a new format of the government’s first
institutional and historical Arabic-language newspaper, Al Massira, as well as
an Arabic-language edition of the national daily Le Soleil. Officials described
the move as a significant step toward expanding access to government
information for Arabic-speaking communities.
The
minister commended the Secretary of State to the Prime Minister in charge of
Relations with Institutions and Government Spokesperson for supporting the
initiative. He also praised the Director of Communications for repositioning Al
Massira as a modern institutional communication platform and the Director
General of Le Soleil for leading the launch of the Arabic edition of the
national newspaper.

The
ceremony was attended by representatives of Arabic-speaking partner countries,
along with religious, cultural and institutional leaders.
The
ministry said the initiative reflects its broader ambition to promote inclusive
institutional communication that respects Senegal’s linguistic plurality and
strengthens national cohesion.
