Data Lab has hosted the first conference of the Health Tech Challenge at the
UniPod of the University of Lomé, bringing together students, project leaders,
healthcare professionals and digital ecosystem stakeholders to accelerate
innovation in Togo’s health system.

Held
in Lome, the conference focused on two main themes: the digitalization of the
care pathway, including its challenges and opportunities, and the process of
transforming a health startup idea into a deployable solution.
Two
panel discussions featured experts from the healthcare and technology sectors.
Speakers included Dr. Kevi Kokou Silvère, an occupational physician and
e-health specialist; information systems architect Godwin Elitcha; AGBETIAFA
Koffivi, President of RASNuT; and surgeon Dr. Ametitovi Ekoue Joël.
The
event also featured practical insights from Koudam Yvon, Chief Executive
Officer of the startup Kondjigbale, who shared his experience in navigating the
challenges of building a health technology solution and the strategies employed
to bring his concept to operational stage.

Discussions
addressed compliance with health standards and regulations, the importance of
interoperability and data security, the development of sustainable business
models and the need to align digital health innovations with on-the-ground
realities and user needs.
Organizers
said the conference provided participating teams with strategic guidance and a
clearer understanding of sector requirements as they prepare for the next
stages of the Health Tech Challenge
