Gabon’s Minister of Digital Economy, Digitalization and Innovation, Mark-Alexandre Doumba has chaired the fifth Steering Committee meeting of the eGabon and Gabon Digital projects, bringing together key government stakeholders to assess progress in the country’s digital transformation agenda.

The meeting was attended by the Ministers of Public Service, Planning, and Health, reflecting the intersectoral scope of the initiatives. Discussions focused on evaluating implementation milestones, institutional coordination, and funding utilization.

Participants noted that while foundational structures for digital transformation have been established, greater interministerial coordination is required to accelerate implementation. The committee also highlighted the need to increase the disbursement rate of committed funding to ensure that investments translate into tangible improvements for citizens.

The Gabon Digital programme was reaffirmed as a strategic national investment aimed at enhancing the State’s capacity to digitize administrative procedures, streamline public services, and improve overall service delivery. Officials emphasized alignment with the broader national development vision.

During the session, the committee agreed on a series of measures to strengthen execution. These include improving the management and monitoring of performance indicators, accelerating funding disbursement, consolidating the legal and institutional framework, expanding training for public officials, and ensuring the sustainability of deployed digital infrastructure.

Committee members underscored the importance of translating digital policies into practical outcomes, particularly in reducing administrative delays, increasing transparency, and improving operational efficiency.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment by stakeholders to advance from a structuring phase toward accelerated execution, positioning digital transformation as a central driver of state modernization, citizen service delivery, and economic development.
