The engagement, which took place on Monday, February 16, 2026, focused on preparations for the second Pan African AI & Innovation Summit scheduled for September 22–23, 2026, as well as potential partnerships to accelerate the application of AI technologies for national development.

During the discussions, the Minister underscored the importance of youth empowerment within Ghana’s digital transformation agenda. He emphasized the need to harness local datasets in developing AI-driven solutions tailored to address domestic challenges, noting that context-specific innovation would be critical to achieving sustainable outcomes.

Samuel Nartey George also reaffirmed his support for collaborative initiatives between government, academia, and industry, highlighting the strategic value of nurturing digital talent and innovation capabilities across the country. In his capacity as Patron of the Digital Youth Village, he reiterated the government’s commitment to fostering an enabling environment for technology-driven growth.

Representatives of the delegation described the partnership between PAAIS and the Digital Youth Village as a significant alignment of academic expertise and industry engagement. They noted that the collaboration is designed to support the development of practical, market-oriented AI solutions while contributing to Ghana’s broader ambition of positioning itself as a leading centre for ethical AI development on the continent.

The meeting forms part of ongoing stakeholder engagements within Ghana’s digital policy landscape, where attention is increasingly turning toward artificial intelligence as a catalyst for economic modernization and technological competitiveness.
