The Ghana Domain Name Registry (GDNR) has concluded a three-day working visit with the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA), marking a significant step in regional collaboration aimed at strengthening Africa’s digital identity and internet infrastructure resilience.

The high-level engagement brought together LTA Commissioner Angela C. Bush and Senior Engineer Joe Jomah Kerkula, Jr., alongside GDNR leadership, for in-depth technical and policy discussions focused on the management and security of national country code top-level domains (ccTLDs). Central to the visit were detailed sessions examining Ghana’s .gh namespace framework.

Led by GDNR Executive Director Wisdom Kwasi Donkor, the technical exchanges addressed critical infrastructure priorities, including the transition to IPv6, implementation of Domain Name System Security Extensions (DNSSEC), and advancements in registry automation. These discussions emphasized the growing importance of aligning policy frameworks with technical safeguards to ensure stability, security, and operational efficiency within national domain ecosystems.

Beyond technical consultations, the Liberian delegation engaged with key stakeholders across Ghana’s digital landscape. The programme included visits to the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, National Communications Authority, National Information Technology Agency, and PAIX Data Centres. The interactions provided insights into Ghana’s regulatory environment, data governance practices, and the role of physical infrastructure in supporting digital services.

Officials from both institutions highlighted the broader implications of the exchange, noting that regional cooperation is increasingly vital as African countries seek to enhance cybersecurity, expand internet accessibility, and build sovereign digital capabilities. The visit also reinforced the role of knowledge-sharing initiatives in strengthening institutional capacity and fostering harmonized approaches to digital policy and infrastructure development across the continent.

The GDNR–LTA engagement reflects a growing trend of cross-border partnerships designed to bolster Africa’s digital transformation agenda, with a focus on secure, resilient, and future-ready internet ecosystems.
