The Internet Governance Forum (IGF) Secretariat has opened the AI Impact Summit with discussions focused on shaping the future of artificial intelligence and digital governance. The event brought together stakeholders from government, academia, civil society, and the private sector to explore strategies for building safe, inclusive, and sustainable AI ecosystems.

Chengetai Masango, Head of the IGF Secretariat, participated in a multistakeholder panel on “Building a Trusted and Resilient AI Infrastructure Ecosystem,” addressing the balance between innovation, security, transparency, and accountability in AI adoption. The discussions emphasized the importance of resilient systems that uphold digital rights while fostering technological growth.

On the sidelines of the Summit, the Secretariat engaged with the new cohort of BMDS International Digital Policy Fellows. These fellows, drawn from diverse academic and professional backgrounds, will contribute to key global digital policy processes, including EuroDIG and the Internet Governance Forum, bringing fresh perspectives to international debates on internet governance.

The Fellowship, a programme of Germany’s Bundesministerium für Digitales und Staatsmodernisierung (BMDS) and implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, supports youth leadership and active participation in shaping a shared digital future.
