MTN
Cameroon has conducted a large-scale cybersecurity awareness initiative
targeting students in Douala as part of activities marking Youth Week.
Implemented
in partnership with SAFE Africa, the campaign engaged more than 900 students
from DAS, PNEU, SMART, and BELMON Colleges located in Bonaberi. The sessions focused
on critical digital safety topics including cyberbullying, online scams, and
data protection.

According
to organizers, the awareness sessions were designed to equip young people with
practical knowledge to navigate the digital environment safely. Students
actively participated in discussions, raising questions and sharing personal
experiences related to online risks.
MTN
Cameroon indicated that the initiative aligns with its broader commitment to
promoting digital human rights. The program emphasizes educating youth on their
rights and responsibilities in the digital space, including issues of online
privacy, security, and ethical digital behavior.

Company
representatives noted that such engagements aim to empower students to protect
themselves from digital threats while fostering responsible online conduct. The
sessions also underscored the importance of respecting the rights of others and
maintaining safe digital interactions.
The
initiative forms part of MTN Cameroon’s ongoing efforts to strengthen digital
literacy and cybersecurity awareness among young populations in Cameroon.
