Kenya advances AI and digital economy through partnership with Tony Blair Institute

The Principal Secretary for the State Department of ICT and Digital Economy, Eng. John Kipchumba Tanui has met with Magdalene Kariuki, Country Director for Kenya at the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, to strengthen collaboration on the country’s AI and digital economy initiatives.

The discussion emphasized the importance of partnerships in building institutional AI capabilities, accelerating digital skills development, and deploying practical, scalable solutions across government.

Both parties explored ways the Institute can support Kenya in identifying and demonstrating AI applications that enhance public service delivery, improve policy design, and increase operational efficiency, with measurable outcomes and structured adoption strategies.

Eng. Tanui highlighted that such strategic collaborations are essential for bolstering execution capacity and advancing Kenya’s vision of a resilient, innovation-driven digital economy.
