Guinea has taken over the leadership of the Executive Secretariat of the Economic and Social Regions of West African States, marking a significant milestone in the country’s engagement with regional postal governance.

The election of Mr. Diallo Mohamed Lamine as Executive Secretary of the Conference of Posts of West African States (WAPC) underscores Guinea’s growing influence within major international postal bodies. This follows Guinea’s election in September 2025 to the Postal Operations Council of the Universal Postal Union and its appointment in November 2025 as co-chair of the UPU’s “Addressing” group, both firsts for the country since independence.

Rose Pola Pricemou, Counsellor to the Presidency in charge of New Technologies and Artificial Intelligence, congratulated Mr. Lamine on his election, highlighting the continuity of Guinea’s strategic engagement in regional decision-making. She also commended Minister Mourana Soumah for leading the Guinean delegation to Banjul and acknowledged the Gambian Minister, Mr. Lamin Jabbi, who now presides over the WACPO Council of Ministers.

The leadership role reinforces Guinea’s position in shaping policies and initiatives within the West African postal sector, promoting regional cooperation and development.
