The African Aeronautics & Space Organisation (AASO) has announced the launch of the fourth edition of the African Aeronautics & Space Innovation Trophy (ASIT), a biennial award recognising outstanding contributions to the development of Africa’s aeronautics and space sectors.

Scheduled for March 27, 2026, the award ceremony will be held at the National Air and Space Museum of France in Paris–Le Bourget. During the event, Dr. Tidiane Ouattara, President of the African Space Council within the African Space Agency, will be formally honoured for his exceptional contribution to advancing Africa’s space sector.

ASIT is awarded every two years to women and men whose work in aeronautics and space actively supports sustainable development across the African continent. The initiative aims to highlight leadership, innovation and long-term impact within the sector.

The 2026 edition is expected to bring together high-level African leaders from the aeronautics and space communities, alongside representatives of international institutions and industry stakeholders. The programme will feature strategic discussions, high-level exchanges and business-to-business meetings focused on aviation and space development.

AASO stated that the event will serve as a platform for strengthening collaboration, sharing expertise and fostering partnerships that support the growth of Africa’s aviation and space industries. Registration for participation in the event is currently open.
