A
senior delegation from Ethio telecom, led by Chief Executive Officer Frehiwot
Tamru has conducted a strategic working visit to Djibouti Telecom’s
International Gateway infrastructure, highlighting the growing partnership
between the two operators.

The
team toured the Haramous Cable Landing Station, a key subsea connectivity hub
linking East Africa to Europe and Asia. The facility serves as a primary
gateway supporting Ethiopia’s international digital connectivity and hosts
multiple high-capacity submarine cable systems.
The
visit focused on evaluating the reliability, scalability, and operational
robustness of the international gateway services, through which Ethio telecom
has secured significant bandwidth capacity to meet Ethiopia’s rising demand for
data, cloud services, and cross-border digital traffic. Discussions with
Djibouti Telecom’s executives and technical teams explored network
optimization, service delivery improvements, and enhanced operational
coordination to ensure seamless and resilient connectivity.

Both
parties reaffirmed their commitment to expanding capacity in line with
Ethiopia’s digital growth and advancing inclusive digital transformation,
strengthening regional connectivity and supporting a more digitally empowered
Africa.
