The
National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has engaged with
Singapore’s Non-Resident High Commissioner in Abuja to explore a strategic
partnership aimed at strengthening cooperation in digital transformation and
artificial intelligence.
The
high-level meeting, held at NITDA headquarters, was hosted by Engr. Salisu
Kaka, PhD, Director of the e-Government and Digital Economy Department,
representing the Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi.
Discussions focused on aligning Singapore’s advanced technological expertise
with Nigeria’s expanding digital economy to support innovation, capacity
building, and global competitiveness.

During
the engagement, NITDA outlined Nigeria’s progress in positioning itself as an
active architect of digital innovation, highlighting the National Artificial
Intelligence Strategy coordinated by the Ministry of Communications, Innovation
and Digital Economy, with NITDA playing a key role in implementation. The
agency also showcased its achievements in expanding digital literacy nationwide
through initiatives such as the National Digital Literacy Framework and the
Digital Literacy for All programme.
Both
sides emphasized the importance of clear and forward-looking government
policies, alongside robust regulatory frameworks, to stimulate private sector
innovation and attract investment in emerging technologies, including digital
assets, blockchain, and cryptocurrency.
The
meeting further explored opportunities for future collaboration, including
Nigeria’s potential participation in the Singapore Cooperation Programme and
targeted policy support and capacity-building training. The engagement signals
growing interest in deepening Nigeria–Singapore cooperation to accelerate
digital transformation and strengthen leadership in the global digital economy.
